This Privacy Policy explains how Hello Planet Pte. Ltd., (“TanTan”, “us”, “our” or “we”) collect, use, share, process and disclose the personal information of users, and other individuals through the use of TanTan’s mobile applications and website (respectively “App” and “Website”), as well as products, features and other services globally, operated by TanTan (collectively, “Services”).
By starting to use our Services, you have fully understood and agreed to this Privacy Policy.
We typically collect, use, disclose or otherwise process your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy with your consent, or in compliance with applicable laws, such as where:
it is required for us to comply with legal requirements;
it is required for us to enter into or perform a contract with you; and/or
for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of any other persons, including but not limited to for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy.
1. What Personal Information Do We Collect?
We may collect the following information about you:
Information Provided by You to Us
Account Information. When you create an account, you provide us with your name, contact information, date of birth, email address, sexual orientation and your photograph or profile video.
Profile Data. When you complete your user profile, you share additional information about yourself, such as your gender, interests, preferences, approximate location, etc. If you choose to provide this data, you consent to us using it as laid out in this
Privacy Policy. When you use our face recognition service, you specifically agree to the collection of your facial recognition information by us or another party for the purpose of verifying your identity. For example, we may verify your identity through selfie images as an additional layer of protection, or in accordance with our user registration procedure.
TanTan ID. When your profile is successfully created, a TanTan identity number (“TanTan ID”) will be allocated and tagged to your account. This TanTan ID is unique to each user and is used for communicating with us to provide customer support to you or other requests.
Content & Messages. When you use our App, you may post photos, videos, audio, messages and other types of content, such as your chats with other users. We collect information you provide when you compose, send, or receive messages through the App’s messaging functionalities. They include messages you send or receive through our chat functionality when communicating with other users through our App. That information includes the content of the message and information about the message, such as when it was sent, received, or read, and message participants. Please be aware that messages you choose to send to other users of the App will be accessible by those users and that we are not responsible for the manner in which those users use or share the messages.
Purchase Information. When you make a purchase or payment on or through our App, including when you purchase our subscription, or purchase our brand merchandize through our online store feature, we collect information about the purchase or payment transaction, such as payment card information, billing, delivery, and contact information, and items you purchased.
Customer Support Data. When you contact us, you provide us with information that may be necessary to help address your inquiry. Other people may also submit queries or reports involving you. Finally, our moderation tools and teams can collect additional data as part of their investigations.
Also, we are part of Hello Group Inc (“Hello Group”) group of companies. Hello Group considers the safety and security of users a top priority. If you were banned from another Hello Group service, your data may be shared with us to allow us to take necessary actions, including closing your account or preventing you from creating an account on our Services. Where legally allowed, we can also receive information about suspected or convicted bad actors from third parties as part of our efforts to ensure our users’ safety and security.
Data Automatically Collected
Cookie. To ensure the normal operations of the website, secure easier access for you and recommend content that may be of interest to you, we will store data files called cookies on your computer or mobile device. Cookies often contain identifiers, site names and some numbers and characters. Cookies allow the website to store your preferences and other data.
Web Beacons. Aside from cookies, we may also use web beacons, pixel tags and other similar technologies on the Website. For example, an email that we send you may contain a link to content on our website, and if you click on the link, we will track this click to help us understand your preferences for products or services so that we can proactively improve our customer service experience. A web beacon is usually a transparent image embedded in a website or in an email. A pixel tag in an email allows us to know whether the email has been opened. If you do not wish to have your activity tracked in such ways, you may unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time.
Usage Data. Using our Services generates data about your activity, including how you logged in, features you’ve been using, actions taken, information shown to you, referring webpages, ads you interacted with and how you interact with others (e.g., searching, matching, communicating). We may also receive data related to interactions you had with our ads on third party’s websites or apps.
Device Information. We will receive and record information about the device you use, such as the device model, operating system version, device settings, unique device identifier and other information on software and hardware features, and information about the location of the device, such as the IP address, GPS location and Wi-Fi access point, Bluetooth, base station and other sensor information that can provide relevant information, based on the specific permissions that you grant when installing and using the software.
Other members.
Reasons for sharing: You share date with other members when you voluntarily disclose information the App for others to see (e.g., your public profile).
If someone submits a report involving you (such as a claim you violated our Terms of Use), we may let the reporter know what actions we took, if any, as a result of their report. The same applies if you submit a report involving another member.
Categories of Personal Data: Profile Data, TanTan ID, Content & Messages, Customer Support Data
Service providers / Business partners.
Reasons for sharing: We may publish ads about third-party advertisers’ products and services on our service, and publish ads promoting our own service on third-party sites and apps. To help improve the relevance of these ads, we provide certain info about you to third parties, including advertising partners, or allow them to collect such data from our services (such as via cookies, SDKs, or similar technologies). Some of our advertising partners enable us to transform your email address, advertising identifiers or phone number into an identifier that can’t be used to identify you personally and then use that unique identifier to either exclude you from our marketing campaigns or to target our ads at an audience that is similar to you in terms of background, interests or app usage.

Advertising Partners.
Reasons for sharing: We share data with vendors and partners who help us operate, promote and improve our service. They provide us services such as data hosting and maintenance, analytics, customer care, marketing, advertisingm payment processingm legal support, and security options.

Affiliates.
Reasons for sharing: We may share data with our affiliates or receive data from them for the purposes laid out in this Privacy Policy.
Categories of Personal Data: The categories of data will vary based on the reason for sharing, but it may include: Account Data, Profile Data, TanTan ID, Content & Messages, Purchase Information, Customer Support Data, Usage Data, Technical Data
Law enforcement authorities.
Reasons for sharing: We may disclose your data to: (i) comply with a legal process, such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant, government / law enforcement investigation or other legal requirements; (ii) assist in the prevention or detection of crime; (iii) protect the safety of any person; and (iv) establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Categories of Personal Data: The categories of data will vary depending on the specific circumstances surrounding the request, but it often can include: Account data, Profile Data, TanTan ID, Content & Messages, Purchase Information, Customer Support Data, Usage Data
In the context of merger and acquisition, with our Affiliates or new owner(s).
Reasons for sharing: We may transfer your data if we are involved, whether in whole or in part, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy or other change of ownership or control.
Categories of Personal Data: The categories of data will vary based on the type of corporate transaction.
It may include the entire organization data or only a specific subset such as Purchase Information.
To fulfill requests for App functionality, support and information for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical, and survey purposes and to solicit your feedback.
To provide our subscription features and facilitate the purchase of membership, including sharing your information with payment and transaction fulfillment providers, and other service providers in order to process your instructions.
To personalise the profiling you see when you use the App.
To send promotional materials, including by instant messaging or email, from us or on behalf of our affiliates and trusted third parties.
To improve and develop our App and conduct product development.
To measure and understand the effectiveness of the advertisements and other content we serve to you and others, and to deliver advertising, including targeted advertising, to you on the App.
To support the social functions of the App, including to permit you and others to connect with each other and to share whether you are active on the App with your friends, to provide our messaging service if you choose to use this function, to suggest accounts to you and others, and for you and others to share, and otherwise interact with other users’ profile through the App.
To understand how you use the App, including across your devices.
To infer additional information about you, such as your age range, gender, and interests. To help us detect and combat abuse, harmful activity, fraud, spam, and illegal activity on the App.
To ensure matches are presented in the most effective manner for you and your device.
To promote the safety, security of the App, including by scanning, analyzing, and reviewing profile photos, messages and associated metadata for violations of our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, or other conditions and policies.
To facilitate research conducted by independent researchers that meets certain criteria.
To verify your identity or age. To communicate with you, including to notify you about changes in our Services.
To enforce our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, and other conditions and policies.
Consistent with your permissions, to provide you with location-based Services, such as advertising and other personalized matches.
To train and improve our technology, such as our machine learning models and algorithms.
To facilitate and fulfill purchases of subscription and Services and to provide user support.
2. How We Used Your Information
To help you find the right connections, some of your information is visible to other users on the App. We use your information to improve, support and administer the App, to allow you to use its functionalities, and to fulfill and enforce our Terms of Use. We may also use your information to, among other things, personalise content you see on the App, promote the Services, and customize your ad experience. We generally use the information we collect in the following ways:

We also share data with service providers and business partners who assist us in operating the Services, with other Hello Group companies for legal and related reasons and, in some cases, the reasons laid out below.
Cross-Border Data Transfers
As an international App operator, we may perform cross-border data transfers from the country, state and city (“Home Country”) in which you are present while using our Services to another country, state and city (“Alternate Country”).
When we transfer your personal data from your Home Country to the Alternate Country, we will comply with our regulatory obligations in relation to your personal information, including having a lawful basis for transferring personal information and putting appropriate safeguards in place to ensure an adequate level of protection of your personal information. We will also ensure that the recipient in Alternate Country is obliged to protect your personal information at a standard of protection comparable to the protection under applicable laws.
With respect to data transfer from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or other countries, we will adopt “Adequacy Decisions” mechanism where the Alternate Country data protection laws have been deemed adequate by the European Commission or other competent governmental bodies. Alternatively, we may adopt the “standard contract clauses” framework. These standard contractual clauses are commitments between companies transferring personal data, binding them to protect the privacy and security of your data.
Exceptions to Obtaining Prior Authorization and Consent when Sharing, Transferring and Publicly Disclosing Personal Information
To the extent permitted by law, we are not required to obtain your prior authorization and consent when sharing, transferring and publicly disclosing your personal information in the following circumstances:

Accessing Your Personal Information
You can access your personal information saved under your profile. If you wish to access or edit the nickname, profile photo, signature, job and contact information, interests, questions and answers, etc., in your profile, you can view your profile by clicking the profile photo on the left side of the page on the App.

Correcting or Updating Your Personal Information
If there is an error or inaccuracy in your personal information, you can update your data directly by clicking on your profile. If you are unable to do so, you can submit an online request to us to correct or update your personal information.
Deleting Your Personal Information
You can delete part of your personal information you provided to us directly within the App. You can also remove your account and we will delete your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
If you remove your account with us, we will also exercise our best efforts to notify the parties who have obtained your personal information from us, and request them to delete the personal information in a timely manner, except as otherwise provided for by laws and legislations, or when these parties have obtained your separate consent.
Changing the Scope of Your Authorization and Consent
Each operation function can only be function with some basic personal information. You can directly withdraw consent you’ve given us either by updating your account setting or removing device permissions you’ve agreed to in your device settings (e.g., access to specific types of device data such as phone contacts, pictures, advertising identifiers and location services or consent to receive push notifications). When you withdraw consent, certain services may lose functionality.
If you are given the option to share your personal data with us and you choose not to, or subsequently withdraw your consent for our use of it, this could mean that we are unable to perform the actions necessary to achieve the purposes of processing described in Section 2 (Use of Your Personal Information) or that you are unable to make use of App in such circumstances. We may be able to continue to process your personal data to the extent required or otherwise permitted by applicable laws and regulations. However, your decision to withdraw your consent will not affect the processing of your personal information previously based on your authorization.
Restricting Automatic Decision-making by Information Systems
We may rely only on non-manual automatic decision-making mechanisms including information systems and algorithms to make decisions for certain operation functions. If such decisions significantly impact your legitimate rights and interests, you have the right to request an explanation from us, and we will also provide a method of appeal without prejudice to our trade secret, or the rights and interests of other users and the interests of the general public.
Responding to Your Request
For security and protection purposes, you are required to provide us with your information to verify your identity before processing your request. We may reject your requests, including if we are unable to authenticate you, if the request is unlawful or invalid, or if it may infringe on trade secrets or intellectual property or the privacy or other rights of someone else.
In principle, we will not charge you for reasonable requests, but for repeated and excessive requests, we will charge you for certain costs as the case may be. We may reject requests that are repeated without just cause, require excessive technical means (such as requiring the development of a new system or a fundamental change in existing practices), expose the legitimate rights and interests of others to risks or are extremely impractical.
We will not be able to respond to your request as required by laws and legislation in the following circumstances:
the personal information is related to national security and the security of national defense;
the personal information is related to public security, public health and significant public interests.
the personal information is related to the investigation of a crime, prosecutions, trials, judgment executions, etc.
the personal information is collected for the protection of the life, property and other significant legitimate rights and interests of the subject of the personal information or another person, and it is difficult to obtain your consent.
the personal information that is collected has been publicly disclosed to the general public at your own discretion.
the personal information is information that has been lawfully and publicly disclosed, such as lawful news reports, government information disclosures and other channels.
the sharing and transfer of personal information that has been de-identified with the condition that the data recipient cannot restore and re-identify the subject of the personal information shall not constitute sharing, transfer and public disclosure of personal information, and we are not required to notify you or seek your consent when storing and processing such data.
the personal information is related to national security and the security of national defense;
the personal information is related to public security, public health and significant public interests;
the request is related to the investigation of a crime, prosecutions, trials, judgment executions, or court order;
there is sufficient evidence to prove the subjective malice of or abuse of rights by the subject of the personal information;
responding to your request will cause severe damage to the legitimate rights and interests of yourself or another individual or organization; and
the request involves trade secrets.
5. How We Protect and Secure of Your Personal Information
We have adopted reasonable technical security protection measures that are in line with universally adopted solutions in the industry to protect the security of your personal information, and prevent unauthorized access, public disclosure, use, modification, damage or loss of personal information.
For example, data exchanged between your browser and the server is encrypted with the Secure Socket Layer protocol; we will use encryption techniques to improve the security of personal information; we will use trusted protection mechanisms to prevent malicious attacks on personal information; we will deploy an access control mechanism, and exercise our best efforts to ensure that only authorized personnel have access to personal information; and we will organize security and privacy protection training programs to enhance employees' awareness of the importance of protecting personal information.
We have an industry-leading data security management system addressing the data lifecycle with data at the core, and improve the security of the whole system in multiple dimensions ranging from organizational development, system design, personnel management, product technology and other aspects.
As the Internet is not an absolutely secure environment, we strongly advise against sending personal information using communication methods that are not recommended by us. You can establish contact and share with others through our App. When you establish communication, conduct a transaction or share through our App, you can independently choose who you want to communicate, transact or share with as the third party who can see relevant information such as your transaction content, contact details, exchanges or shared content.
Please contact us immediately if you find that your personal information especially your account or password has been divulged, so that we can take the corresponding measures according to your request.
Please note that when you use our services, the information you share voluntarily or even publicly may involve personal information or even sensitive personal information about yourself or others, such as when you choose to upload pictures containing personal information. Please give more prudent consideration as to whether to share or even publicly share relevant information when using our services. Any transmission remains at your own risk.

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill legitimate and essential business purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, except where it is necessary to prolong the retention period permitted by applicable law.
We retain data where there is an outstanding or potential issue, claim or dispute requiring us to keep data in particular if we receive a valid legal subpoena or request asking us to preserve data (in which case we would need to keep the data to comply with our legal obligations) or if data would otherwise be necessary as part of legal proceedings.
Where and as legally permitted, we may maintain and use data that, by itself, cannot identify or be attributed specifically to you for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to improve our Services and create new features, technologies and services and keep Hello Group services safe.
7. Age Restrictions
We only accept registrations to our Services from users who are 18 years or older (or the age of majority in applicable jurisdictions). If you believe that we may have collected any such personal information through our App, please notify us as specified below and we will endeavor to delete that information from our systems in accordance with applicable law.
a material change in our mode of service, such as the purpose of processing personal information, the types of personal information processed, how we use personal information, etc.;
a material change in our controlling rights and other aspects, such as a change in ownership caused by a merger, acquisition, reorganization, etc.;
a change in the main objective of the sharing, transfer or publicly disclosure of personal information;
a material change in your right to participate in the processing of personal information and how it is exercised;
an event when our department responsible for handling the security of personal information, the contact details and the complaint channel changes;
an event when the personal information security impact assessment report indicates that there is a high risk.
